I started out wanting to have an ancient city merged with a brutalist- esque future city. It turned into a city with shared imagery and symbols, an intermingling of new and old. The ancient city started as a commerce hub, trading with other cities over the water. It was a prosperous city, evidenced by the ability to erect large structures with detail, by talented craftspeople. The green floating plants are a new version of what used to grow along the riverbanks in the ancient city. It used to be a city connected to others, back in the past, where the water would take you anywhere you needed to go. The way in and out of the city was on the river, under the arch with the birds on top. Now, you sail under the same arch, but it transports you to another city, floating somewhere else. As you go higher up the hill in the city, there are more straight lines, symmetry, and a definite nod to brutalism. At the very top, there is a large bird statue, the same bird that was used long ago as a symbol of the traders who sailed and delivered their wares very quickly. They were known to be "swift like birds". This one is the largest, and watches over the activity of the entire city, and the people, who are still "swift like birds".
